So I have 2 adult ossabaw pigs, one sow and one ready to give birth in 2 weeks and 4 piglets. I'm very happy with the breed. They are smart, mobile, don't make a bathroom so on pasture they are dropping their joy all over the place. They get an enormous amount of food from pasture so we don't have to feed a ton and don't consume much water at all. That for me makes them a sensible choice given the chaos climate change has thrown us into.I have heard the meat is excellent, more red than the standard pink piggies and it is prized for charcuterie. Unfortunately we are not setup for overwintering. The preggers was an honest mistake and these were meant for meat. SO I have at the moment 2 intact males (if you want to breed, these come from registered lines) and 2 female piglets I need to sell and more coming in 2 weeks and of course the sows themselves. See here for more details on the breed. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ossabaw_Island_hog Proven sows will be $350 each and can be used for meat once the milk has dried up and piglets $150 each.
