LANGARA ISLAND LODGE, located in the beautiful Haïda Gwaii, is looking for a Sous-Chef for this coming summer Fishing season. We are looking for someone who will commit to multiple seasons. Under the direction of the Executive Chef, the Sous Chef will help oversee all food preparation, menu development, and ensure maximum productivity and the highest level of quality and presentation of all meals coming out of our kitchens. RESPONSIBILITIES -Responsible for the kitchen department in the absence of the Executive Chef -Sous chef is expected to be in line function for +- 90% of his work days -Ensure all orders are executed in a timely manner, paying attention to ordering times while also focusing on the highest quality of work and detail -Ensuring fridges, freezers and work area are left in a tidy and organized manner. -Work closely with colleagues to ensure the high quality and consistency of food preparation and presentation -Coach and mentor colleagues. -Develop and implement initiatives to improve service by streamlining procedures and removing obstacles that hinder service delivery -Utilize effective problem-solving and abilities to resolve any issues with associates, suppliers, and Staff QUALIFICATIONS -A minimum of 5 years of culinary experience in a fast-paced, high volume and professional culinary environment -A minimum of 2 years in a leadership culinary role -Ability to work, 6 days a week, standing for 10+ hour shifts, and overtime as required -Physically Fit and able to lift 25 kg -Proactive -Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment -Passionate about food -Excellent problem-solving skills -Present a professional image and the ability to communicate clearly with both customers and co-workers -Able to juggle multiple tasks at a time while prioritizing the most important -Organized with excellent attention to detail -Graduation from a recognized culinary program or Red seal certification is an asset -Compensation for the position will be based on experience. We are offering a competitive wage and an excellent shared tip pool. Flights to and from the Lodge, room, and board are taken care of by Langara Island Lodge. Salary: $4,000.00 to $4,500.00 /month
