EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITYAlcohol &amp Drug Counsellor - Two JOB SUMMARY: Reporting to the Treatment Centre Manager, the Alcohol and Drug Counsellor provides direct addictions counselling services and healing programs and activities to First Nation clients in individual and group settings at the &lsquoNamgis Treatment Centre in the Northern Vancouver Island Community of Alert Bay. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Providing direct one-to-one counselling to clients Treatment planning and implementation Group facilitation Life skills coaching Crisis intervention and referral, including crisis line response Case fi le management QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS &amp EXPERIENCE Addiction's counselling certification from a recognized counselling association Member in good standing with a recognized counselling association A minimum 2 years' related experience, preferably in a First Nation environment Pharmacology (medical aspects), withdrawal management, etc. Twelve Steps of Recovery Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills Demonstrated competency with basic computer skills Drug and alcohol-free lifestyle Basic First Aid certification and valid drivers' license is preferred Satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search JOB COMPETENCIES Empathy to understand and acknowledge thoughts, feelings and conditions Advanced communication skills to build effective relationships and to adapt to a wide range of people Critical thinking to assess and address issues as they arise Flexibility in counselling approaches to meet client needs High EQ for self-awareness and to enhance work related relationships Please submit a covering letter and resume to:humanresources@namgis.bc.ca Opened Till Filled
