Get your Homesteading Hogs! We've been developing a new breed of pig locally specifically for small-scale farmers. Our pigs grow more slowly and won't be ready ideally til next fall. Still, they are aggressive foragers and will find a bunch of their own food everyday, if you give them a pasture/forest/clearcut space to do so. Also, they have a "thrifty gene" which makes them far more food efficient than a modern factory pig. If you feed them the same feed over a year that you would feed a factory pig in six months, then they will reward you with an extra 100 to 150 pounds of animal. It's a much better return on your investment. We have just launched the Calicocean Breeders Association and have room for 4 new people to get breeding stock. Consider raising your own Homesteading Hogs. Think food security and extra income. Check us out at www.calicocean.ca
